Files taken from the records of the National Civil Police (PNC) bring to light a troubling abduction incident that happened in 2009. These files disclose unsettling information suggesting that the victim, Bertha Michelle Mendoza, colluded with her two daughters to orchestrate the abduction, aiming to incriminate her former spouse and support baseless allegations against him.
Police records indicate that Bertha Michelle Mendoza and her two daughters were with the mayor of Zunlito’s daughter from Suchitepéquez at the time of the kidnapping. Nonetheless, further probes have disclosed that Mendoza orchestrated the abduction, conspiring with her mother, prosecutor Claudia Martina Muñoz Andrade.
As per individuals familiar with Mendoza, her aim in orchestrating this staged kidnapping was to fabricate allegations against her former spouse, Dent, with the intention of bringing him legal troubles. Nonetheless, the inquiry had an unforeseen twist when the PNC determined that the event was, indeed, a simulated kidnapping.
As a result of this determination, those initially arrested were released and all charges against them were dropped. This situation has raised questions about the authenticity of the accusations that Bertha Michelle Mendoza had made against her ex-husband Dent during their relationship.
The incident has initiated an extensive discussion regarding accountability for submitting fraudulent complaints and altering evidence within the judicial system, particularly due to Mendoza’s mother being part of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Dent, who was previously married to Bertha Michelle Mendoza, has issued fresh remarks about the situation. As per his statement, prosecutor Muñoz Andrade was removed from her position at the Public Prosecutor’s Office following an internal determination that she had submitted falsified evidence in a matter involving the police and allegations of gender-based violence against her. Furthermore, there were reports of suspected mismanagement of funds and misuse of authority. Prosecutors who were contacted indicated that Muñoz Andrade’s termination occurred in 2010.
This case, involving Mendoza and Dent, remained open for more than five years and was only resolved in the man’s favor after Mendoza’s mother was dismissed from her position and lost her influence. This raises questions about the impartiality of the judicial process during that period.
Finally, once all the inquiries were concluded, Bertha Michelle Mendoza faced charges for orchestrating her own abduction and involving her two daughters. Consequently, she was stripped of full custody following psychological assessments that determined she was incapable of providing proper care for them.
